Trusting God

It’s been a year and three weeks since I've left Brazil. We left many things we cared about and loved. I keep wondering why did God have us leave and return to the US. I finally found home in Brazil. Three years ago my family and I moved to Brazil. My parents had been planning this since they were first married. At first I hated the idea of going. I had everything right here. When I stepped off that plane, my life changed. It was a third world country. Sidewalks, buildings, smell, different culture… all of it was so different.
So we got a house, a car and I went to school. It was the first time I got to go to a school since I was homeschooled. It was nice. I made a lot of good friends and learned how to speak Portuguese. Our main goal was to help a church with new teachings on the gospel and about care groups. A year went by and my total view on life changed. Poverty, I first thought it was that you don’t have a lot of money or have a good job, but poverty to me now is when you have absolutely no food and no shelter. Some times people would come knocking on the door asking for food. Also, my relationship with God changed. The experience in Brazil made me feel closer to God.
There were good days and bad days. Some days we felt that God was always there and some days we felt abandoned. But he was always there and He provided.
Because of the market crash we had no other choice but to return to the US. I was so mad at God for allowing this. But now I understand. Things don’t always turn out the way we think. I have finally accepted that things change. So now I’m going to start living my life for God and put my faith and trust in Him.

Jordan, What an awesome lesson to learn at a young age. I know you miss Brazil, but we're so glad your family is in Spokane!
